Rocky Mountain Conference office is
GOING GREEN!

In order to be better stewards of God's creation,
we're taking a little step here and a little step there...

Recycling:
We have recently contracted for recycling pickup here at the office. All types of paper and cardboard, and all metal and plastic containers will now be recycled.

The cost is minimal for a business (about $25 a month for us) and we are aksing our neighboring businesses to share that dumpster with us.

The cost for residential recycling is significantly less expensive, and sometimes it is FREE! (That is, the service is often times already covered by what you're paying for trash removal.) Some communities have free, convenient drop-off locations instead of curbside pickup. If you're not already recycling at home, call your Home Owners Association if you have one, or your City/Town administrative office. They can give you all the details.

Using "Real" Dishes instead of disposables:
We must admit that we do use disposables for large meetings. However, on a daily basis we are using ceramic mugs & plates and metal silverware for our meals. Everyone just washes their own. It takes only a minute, and prevents a lot of unnecessary waste.

Reducing Paper Use:
This year, for the first time, RMCUCC Camps and Retreats registration is being done entirely online. Not only do we think this will be more convenient for campers and their parents, because they can pay online and get immediate confirmation of their registration(s), but we have estimated that this one step will save at least 14 REAMS of paper! Not to mention saving a lot of postage expenses. We're working toward doing registrations for all of our events online.

We are asking RMCUCC churches to use email as much as possible. We understand that a few churches still do not have reliable computers at their disposal. But we are asking those which do to help us save paper and postage by downloading Reflections, The Parish Paper, and Event Calendars from our website. Beginning in April, we will only be mailing hard copies to churches which specifically request them.

Electricity Conservation:
We're trying really hard to make it a habit to turn off lights we're not using and close or open our doors & windows to control the heat.

God has given us the wonderful gift of our Earth.
A little effort can yeild great results in caring for His creation,
and we wish to honor Him through these efforts.
