OUTreach Moves to Stand on It's OwnFor its first four years, OUTreach operated as a program of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden (UUCO). To formalize its standing in the community (and with UUCO’s blessing), OUTreach is moving to becoming its own non-profit organization. Meet the awesome members of the Board of Directors of our new non-profit. President Saundra Hansen: Americorps VISTA member at Tri-County Independent Living Center; Chair of Ogden Rotary; former Development Director for Peery’s Egyptian Theatre; business owner. Secretary Evelyn Bertilson: President Friends of the Library; community volunteer; former teacher; co-chair of OUTreach (when it was a UUCO program). Treasurer Catina Martinez-Hadley: technical writer in Business Development at Marketstar; former business manager for charter schools; Board member for Ogden Weber Community Action Project, Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce and Ogden City Multicultural Advisory Committee. Barry Gomberg: Director of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity at Weber State University. At WSU he advises the employment functions of this 1500-person employer and has taught many classes. He has actively practiced law, focusing on civil rights, employment and education. Debby Hackett: went to medical school at age 40 and now works as an endocrinologist at McKay Dee hospital in Ogden. Roxanne Taylor: a founder of OUTreach and co-chair when it was a UUCO program; former Board member of UUCO and a home owners association. Karen Thurber: Development Director of the Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College; for 13 years Ogden City’s senior project coordinator in Community and Economic Development; previously housing programs coordinator for Your Community Connection. Susie Williams: Director at Discovery Clubhouse, a childcare center in Ogden for children ages infant to 12; experienced in grant writing and beginning to work on Truancy Mediation. Gary Horenkamp: ex officio (non-voting) member; paid Project Leader of OUTreach; Licensed Professional Counselor; Board member for Northern Utah Coalition HIV/AIDS Project; at Utah Pride Center in Salt Lake leads a bi-monthly men’s group and co-chairs their public safety committee.
