Rev. Howard Celebrates
50 Years with UCC!

Rev HowardOn October 20, 2007 the Southeastern Association of the Rocky Mountain Conference celebrated the ministry of Rev. Robert L. Howard.

Bob graduated from Andover Newton Theological School in 1957. His first parishes were in Craftsbury and Albany, Vermont.

In 1960, he was sent to Japan as a Missionary Teacher sponsored by UCBWM (United Church Board for World Ministries) where he taught English. In 1962, he went to Micronesia to teach students from the Islands who would be future pastors and church school leaders.

In 1964, he returned to the U.S., to serve a parish in Kingston, New Hampshire. From 1971-1991, he served parishes in Thomaston and Hampden, Maine.

In 1991, he moved to Colorado; served Zion UCC in Sterling and retired to Colorado Springs in 1996.

Since retirement, Bob has kept busy doing various hobbies and volunteer jobs. He is the author of a monograph; a historical biographical sketch, of Dr. John Kingsbury and is the key gardener at Rockledge Ranch and Vista Grande UCC. Bob is an avid “card writer” and UCC church historian. He has found his niche with the Adult CE class at Vista Grande, “Percolate.”

Bob is married to Evelyn Howard (nee Brown) and they have one son, Jeremy.

As we come to the close of the 50-year celebration of the UCC, we rejoice with Bob on his 50 years of ordained ministry.
