Q & A with Lorraine Pearson
Getting to know the newest member of the Rocky Mountain Conference office

RMC: What brings you to the Rocky Mountain Conference United Church of Christ and what will be your duties here?
LP: I was fortunate enough to be looking for a job change when the RMCUCC was searching for a new admin./bookkeeper. My duties include coordinating the daily administrative duties and business of the office. Anywhere from answering phones to balancing the books. Happy to assist anyway I can.

RMC: What is your background with the United Church of Christ? If none, what do you look forward to working here?
LP: I am new to the UCC. I truly look forward to the path and people this journey will lead me on.

RMC: Since you are new to the office, tell us a little about yourself (married, kids, grandkids, where grew up, etc.)?
LP: My husband, Rick, and I have been married for six years this month. Between us, we have six children, ages 19-31. We are also blessed with five grandchildren, and a sixth one, a girl, due in September. I am a fourth generation Colorado native, born and raised in the Denver area. Though I’ve visited most of the United States, my home and heart have always been in Colorado.

RMC: When you are not working the office, what do you enjoy doing most?
LP: Spending time with my husband, family and/or friends definitely tops the list. However, I love to read a good book, walk the paths near our home, and do a Suduko when I can. I am new to gardening as well.

RMC: What is your favorite vacation place and why?
LP: Wow - there are sooooo many places we would like to go! Have to say though, the UK and Europe are one and two. Both Rick and I have roots in Ireland, Scotland and Germany/Austria. We would love to visit the homelands of our ancestors.

RMC: If you could spend an afternoon with any celebrity (past or present), who would it be and what would you do?
LP: Helen Keller...I would love to share an afternoon in the shadow of her wisdom and strength.

RMC: Suppose there were a time machine. What time period would you want to travel back to or ahead to and why?
LP: I would like to travel back to the early 1900’s. Though they didn’t know it then, it was a great turning point for our nation, and world for that matter. So many wonderfully gifted people were on the threshold of their greatest moments. Plus, I would really like to see firsthand what Denver was like back then......
