Park Hill Congregational Elects David P. Bahr Pastor.

Park Hill Congregational Church has elected David P. Bahr of Cleveland, Ohio, as its pastor. The church, located at 2600 Leyden Street in Denver is a member of the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Church of Christ. Rev. Bahr led the church in worship on August 19, 2007, and the congregation elected him pastor at a specially-called congregational meeting following the service.

David Bahr was reared in North Dakota, graduating in 1983 from Northwood High School. In 1987, he graduated magna cum laude from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. David received an M.Div. from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in New Brighton, Minnesota in 1990 and a D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 2006.

In 1993, Rev. Bahr was ordained by the United Church of Christ with standing in the Western Reserve Association/Ohio Conference. During his training, Rev. Bahr served as an interim pastor of a UCC congregation in Wishek, North Dakota, a Justice and Peace Intern for the UCC Office for Church in Society in Washington, D.C., and an administrative assistant for the UCC Hunger Action Office in Cleveland.

Since 1993, Rev. Bahr has led the Archwood United Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio. Under his ministry that urban church has grown from a small, elderly congregation into a multi-racial, open and affirming congregation.

In July 2007, Rev. Bahr and his partner, Art Pate, celebrated a “Commitment Ceremony” in Cleveland. Art works for the Social Security Administration and is the guardian of his 12-year-old nephew, Lance. All three will relocate to Denver.

Rev. Bahr will begin his ministry at Park Hill Congregational Church no later than November 19, 2007.
