TEI provides an alternate path to ministry

General Synod 25 approved a pronouncement calling associations and conferences to make available “multiple paths of preparation” for ordained ministry. A regional theological formation program, such as the program offered by the Theological Education Institute (TEI) qualifies as one of these “paths” of preparation for ministry.
TEI is a cooperative program of the United Church of Christ, Rocky Mountain Conference and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Central Rocky Mountain Region.

Courses are designed for lay leaders, to equip them for a variety of ministries. These ministries may include youth ministry, Christian education, ethical analysis and advocacy, preaching and clinical pastoral education. Individuals who just desire a deeper understanding of faith and ministry may also be interested in these courses.

Course subjects include the Bible, church history, systematic theology, pastoral care and counseling, polity of the DOC and UCC, worship, the church’s role in the world, and the art of preaching.

The next school year commences in January 2006. Classes generally meet on Saturdays, three times a semester, in this part-time, two-year program.

Denver / Front Range classes meet at the Colorado Christian Home, 2950 Tennyson in Denver. Students may write to Marcia Meier, Registrar, at: TEI, 3919 Chenango, Littleton, CO 80123 or Marciameier@mmode.com.

Western Slope classes meet at First Congregational UCC, 1425 North Fifth Street in Grand Junction. Students may write to Joy Wills, Associate Dean, at: P.O. Box 1701, Gunnison, CO 81230 or joydonwills@earthlink.net.
