All Saint's Celebrations Around the Conference

Edith GuffyOn the weekend of November 6 and 7, All Saint's services were celebrated at Hillcrest Congregational UCC in Montrose, Bountiful Community UCC in Bountiful, and Columbine United Church in Littleton.

Edith Guffey, Associate General Minister of the national UCC preached at Columbine and Bountiful. She asked us to remember,

"… the power of the living God, reminds us that even when we are at the end of our rope, even when things seem bleakest, even when we think there is no hope, no future, no tomorrow, God is still speaking."

Timothy MerrillIn his sermon at Hillcrest, the Rev. Timothy Merrill, Minister of Preaching and Worship at Henderson Community Church and editor of Homiletics Magazine, suggested that we,

" Learn to reemphasize the value of cultivating our listening capabilities. God is Still Speaking ... implies that as a church we are saying that we're ready to listen, we're ready to be - not to plan this program, that enterprise, baptize and ask God to bless it, but to lie down, be reflective, and wait upon God for God's direction."

holding handsFrom the inspiring preaching of Guffy and Merrill to the Rev. Sandy Edwards reading the scripture in Montrose, and the Rev. Erin Gilmore dancing in worship in Bountiful and the Rev. Rebecca Kemper leading contemporary service with the Soul Purpose band; each celebration lifted our hearts to God and our thoughts of renewed hope in our future as the United Church of Christ.
