Rev. Nelson Murphy Rev. Nelson R. Murphy, a native of New Mexico, was ordained by the SE WIsconsin Association of the United Church of Christ in 1973. Before attending McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, he worked as a stock broker in Philadelphia. Since seminary, he has served three UCC churches in Milwaukee and Sussex, Wisconsin, and in Rio Rancho, New Mexico -- where he was the organizing pastor. From 1981 to 2000, he did ecumenical work with another denomination and the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA. He took his present position with the United Church Foundation in 2001 and is frequently invited to speak to churches about stewardship. Nelson and his wife Sandie have three adult children and one 7-month grandson, the delight of their lives. They live in the northern New Jersey metropolitan area of New York City and look forward to living out west again someday.
