The 2008 Amenities Resolution

Whereas the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Church of Christ, herein after referred to as RoMoCo, has gathered together at the Rock Springs First Congregational Church UCC to follow Christ’s footsteps and to leave our own;

Whereas in the Roll Call we were reminded that the Western Association, is indeed, part of the RoMoCo;

Whereas we have worshipped, prayed, sung, laughed, popped balloons and conducted the business of budgets, nominations, resolutions, and recognitions;

Whereas we have danced in the aisles, blown bubbles in the pews, and even witnessed a demonstration of “Undie Sunday;”
                                                                                             
Whereas in voting we were instructed to wave, shimmy, wiggle and vacillate our blue voting cards;

Whereas we have voted to endow the RoMoCo with intent and vitality in this “Culture of Anxiety;”

Whereas Nelson Murphy led us to see by encouraging us to be blind to materialism;

Whereas Paul Nickerson encouraged us to be “vital” in our vision and values, spiritual leadership, disciple making and our heart for our communities;

Whereas we welcomed to the staff of the RoMoCo Jean Wade, Lorraine Pearson, Jenny Goring, and welcomed back Hal Youngblood;

Whereas we celebrated the increase of 5% or more average worship attendance in many of our churches and the RoMoCo itself;

Whereas our outgoing moderator stepped down in song and we welcomed our new moderator, Jan Hepp, wondering what hidden talents she brings to the office;

Therefore, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and praise to First Congregational Rock Springs, and its sister Wyoming Churches of Green River and Pinedale, and to Harbey Joyner for their extravagant hospitality. We ask God’s blessings upon you, your current and future ministries, and thank you for all you have done, knowing that as you follow the footsteps of Jesus, the Christ, God will faithfully show you the way.
