The 2007 Amenities Resolution
By Kerrie Shahan
Whereas the Rocky Mountain Conference of the
United Church of Christ has come together at Broadmoor Community Church
UCC in joy and celebration to share the vitality of the conference
and the denomination.
And whereas we have worshipped, we have prayed, we have sung, we have
laughed and we have been challenged.
And whereas we have joined together as clergy for an evening in Inglis
Hall at beautiful La Foret to enjoy a delightful meal and to honor the
even more delightful Chuck Burns, George Otto, Clive Miller and Bill
Dalk.
And whereas we have been extravagantly welcomed by Broadmoor Community
Church to their grounds and to the beautiful Colorado Springs, that while
in Colorado, does not boast an actual springs, let alone springs.
And whereas we have reviewed our history and celebrated past leadership
with the title of “Emeritus” and re-named current leadership
with the title of “T-Dog.”
And whereas we have been called to order by the hidden talents of our
moderator in the form of yodeling and birdcalls.
And whereas we have been reminded – several times – that
we are not normal.
And whereas we have been encouraged to turn our “whatever” into “whatever
it takes.”
And whereas Squirrel Face, Wiggle Nose and Needles Nestor of the infamous
Squabbit Gang have offered to acquire protection money from us.
And whereas we have been blessed by the presence of Charlene Smith who
encouraged us to be ready, to be set and to grow.
And whereas we have joyously celebrated the many years of service by
Priscilla Corsi and the three whole months of service of Hal Youngblood.
And whereas we welcomed the new additions of Roberto and Lorraine to
our conference staff.
And whereas we learned that one definition of home is friendship, therefore
we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Broadmoor Community Church for this
fine Annual Meeting and celebration of the Rocky Mountain Conference
where we have been lovingly hosted, amply fed and uplifted by extravagant
hospitality.
We ask God’s blessings upon you and your ministries and say thank
you for all you have done and praise God for all you are yet to do.
