The 2006 Amenities Resolution
By Jean Wade

Whereas the RMC of the UCC has come together at Parkview UCC in joy and celebration to share what is right with the world and the conference.

We have worshipped, and we have prayed and we have sung and we have laughed and we have hugged and

We have experienced the joys of gathering as clergy for an evening of beans, beef and Bob who taught us how to say “I Like Scooter Pies” and the importance of putting “the emfassis on the right sylabol” and

Whereas we have been extravagantly welcomed and blessed to be in the presence of the Parkview UCC and its pastors, and

Whereas, we have lifted up in yums and tums the wonderful cooking and meals provided by the Parkview church crew and

Whereas, we are overjoyed that we were able to steal “Dr. Phil” from Oprah’s hands to be our parliamentarian, and

Whereas, we have been gently and joyfully led by our Moderator, Alice of the Silver Tongue and virtue, and Benjamin the vice, who mistook us for Catholics and thought we knew how to use rhythm in expressing God’s goodness, and

Whereas we learned how important Priscilla is to the smooth operations of the conference, and we learned the hitech skills of the use of the pen on our Annual Report, and discovered, much to his surprise, that Tom is still our “Acting” Conference Minister (and a fine Act it is!!)

Whereas, we have been amused and stimulated by the “Holy Interrupters” who have shared their mime talents, and

Whereas, we have viewed Steve Haskins, our newly designated TREASURES Chair, as he explained how we are in a hole, but we aren’t in as deep a hole as we predicted (which is a lot like being a “Little Pregnant”)… and

Whereas, we discovered that people will go to a stewardship workshop early in the morning if you bribe them with enough food and coffee—remember that if you have workshops in the future, and

Whereas, once again we witnessed that the “Rumcuccs” are not morning people as we came together to hear Peter Sawtell’s excellent bible study..and

Whereas, we worshiped joyously and communed deeply with God and each other, with great appreciation that David is a part of the staff and the lives of the young people of our conference,

Whereas, the SquabbitHood came and informed and brought his merry band of La Foret friends to entertain and inform us,

Whereas, Amanda Trosten-Bloom helped us to celebrate the spirit in our lives and our futures through Appreciative Inquiry, and

Whereas, we have come to this wonderfully planned banquet where we must bid farewell to Michael and Peggy, knowing that their ministries to us are part of what we celebrate as right in God’s world,

Therefore, we extend our extravagant thanks and praise to the Parkview UCC and Beth and Steve for one of the finest annual meetings and celebrations of the RMC—where we have been lovingly hosted, more than amply fed, uplifted by hospitality and returned to our historical roots with the use of outdoor potties. We ask God’s blessings upon you and your future ministries and say thank you for all you have done. And we also thank all those who worked so hard to make this meeting happen.
